Ocean Breeze Energy (OBE) owns and operates the North Sea wind farms: BARD Offshore 1 (400 MW) and alpha ventus (60 MW), as well as the related substations. With over 90 wind turbines, the company – which has offices in Bremen and Emden – is making a significant contribution to the energy transition on the path to climate neutrality. Ocean Breeze Energy specialises in the long-term operation of offshore wind farms.
Ocean Breeze Energy is wholly owned by funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management.

Who we are
Ocean Breeze Energy GmbH & Co. KG is owned by funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management [MAM].
MAM is the world’s largest infrastructure manager and has invested in critical infrastructure businesses across Germany, including Open Grid Europe, TanQuid, Thyssengas, Techem and the Warnow Tunnel, since 2000.
MAM is also a major investor in renewable energy – managing investments in 13.4GW of green energy projects around the world. In Europe, MAM manages investments in approximately 5GW of hydro, offshore and onshore wind capacity across the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal.

Jean Huby
Chief Executive Officer, Geschäftsführer
Jean Huby took over the position of Managing Director in Ocean Breeze Energy (OBE) in 2014. After the take-over of OBE by MIRA in 2019 he was appointed CEO of the company.
Prior to joining OBE, Jean was CEO of AREVA Wind (now Adwen Offshore), a leading turbine manufacturer, after a career in various industries (conventional energies, civil works, telecommunication) and in public administration.
Jean holds an engineering degree from the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole des Mines de Paris and an MSc in economy.
Joachim Arndt
Chief Technical Officer, Geschäftsführer
Joachim Arndt joined OBE as Chief Engineer in 2015 and was appointed CTO and Managing Director following the take-over by MIRA. Joachim has over 20 years experience in leadership positions in engineering. He was at the origin of one of the first 5 MW-class offshore turbine design as CTO in Multibrid. From 2009-2014 as Technical Director he was responsible for the development of the engineering department at AREVA wind, from 2011 as Managing Director.
Joachim Arndt holds an engineer degree (Diplom-Ingenieur).
Dr. Daniel Brickwell
Chief Commercial Officer, Prokurist
Daniel Brickwell joined OBE in 2014 after having held the position of Head of Sales and Project Development at BARD Engineering for several years. Daniel has 20 years experience in different leadership positions in the wind industry and was Managing Director at Gamesa Energie Deutschland GmbH before joining BARD.
Daniel holds a PhD in Finance of the Free University of Berlin.
