BARD Offshore 1
BO1 is Germany’s first commercial offshore wind farm and was the highest-producing in 2017. All 80 of its 5-MW turbines have been connected to the grid since 2013. With a capacity of 400 MW, they supply electricity to over 400,000 households. Funded by the European Commission.
alpha ventus
alpha ventus was the first German offshore wind farm to become fully operational in 2010. After just over a year of construction, the 60 MW test site was testing two types of wind turbine on jacket and tripod foundations – 60 km off the coast. The lessons learnt from this project continue to shape the German offshore wind industry to this day.
Rysumer Nacken
In 2007, two BARD 5.0 wind turbines were installed at the Rysumer Nacken wind farm for testing purposes. The aim was to validate the technology and determine its power curve.
