Ocean Breeze Energy GmbH & Co. KG is owner and operator of the windfarm, BARD Offshore 1 (BO1), approx. 100 km off the German North Sea Coast.
BO1, the first and currently most powerful offshore wind farm in Germany is completely connected to the grid since September 2013.
80 wind energy generators of the 5 megawatt class reach a nominal capacity of 400 mega watt - this equals the energy consumption of more than 400,000 households.
BARD Offshore 1 was supported by the European Commission within the scope of the European Energy Programme for Recovery (EEPR).
Ocean Breeze Energy GmbH & Co. KG is 100% indirectly held by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA).
MIRA is the world’s largest infrastructure manager and has invested in critical infrastructure businesses across Germany, including Open Grid Europe, TanQuid, Thyssengas, Techem and the Warnow Tunnel, since 2000.
MIRA is also a major investor in renewable energy – managing investments in 13.4GW of green energy projects around the world. In Europe, MIRA manages investments in approximately 5GW of hydro, offshore and onshore wind capacity across the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal.
Jean Huby took over the position of Managing Director in Ocean Breeze Energy (OBE) in 2014. After the take-over of OBE by MIRA in 2019 he was appointed CEO of the company.
Prior to joining OBE, Jean was CEO of AREVA Wind (now Adwen Offshore), a leading turbine manufacturer, after a career in various industries (conventional energies, civil works, telecommunication) and in public administration.
Jean holds an engineering degree from the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole des Mines de Paris and an MSc in economy.
Joachim Arndt joined OBE as Chief Engineer in 2015 and was appointed CTO and Managing Director following the take-over by MIRA. Joachim has over 20 years experience in leadership positions in engineering. He was at the origin of one of the first 5 MW-class offshore turbine design as CTO in Multibrid. From 2009-2014 as Technical Director he was responsible for the development of the engineering department at AREVA wind, from 2011 as Managing Director.
Joachim Arndt holds an engineer degree (Diplom-Ingenieur).
Daniel Brickwell joined OBE in 2014 after having held the position of Head of Sales and Project Development at BARD Engineering for several years. Daniel has 20 years experience in different leadership positions in the wind industry and was Managing Director at Gamesa Energie Deutschland GmbH before joining BARD.
Daniel holds a PhD in Finance of the Free University of Berlin.
